From 25 November, the new rules, introduced by EC Directive
89/2003, will require pre-packed foods sold in the European Union
to show clearly on the label if they contain any of 12 listed
allergenic foods as an ingredient.
As a raft of new food legislation, notably the labelling of food
allergens and genetically modified organisms, enters into force in
Europe, food manufacturers cannot afford to be less than au
fait with the new rules. Under the umbrella...
Ingredients and foodstuffs such as celery, mustard, sulphur dioxide
and crustaceans will soon have to be strictly labelled by food
manufacturers, as the EU introduces tough new regulation to do
battle with allergens.
